Question 1

Is Word to Share free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Word to Share is completely free for both writers and readers. There are no paywalls, subscriptions, or premium tiers. You can read every published story and publish your own without paying anything.

Question 2

How do I create an account?

Accepted Answer

Click “Get Started”, sign up with your name, email, and a password. You’ll then receive a verification email — confirm it to unlock publishing and engagement features like claps, comments, and follows.

Question 3

Why do I need to verify my email?

Accepted Answer

Email verification keeps the community trustworthy. Until you verify, you can browse and read, but actions like clapping, commenting, and submitting articles for review are locked.

Question 4

Can I set a username and profile?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In your dashboard settings you can set a unique username, add a bio, a personal website, and upload a profile photo (with a built-in crop tool). Your public profile lives at /profile/your-username.

Question 5

How does the editor work?

Accepted Answer

Word to Share has a distraction-free, Medium-style editor. You write on a clean canvas while topic, tags, SEO, cover image, and reference links live in a separate publish-settings panel. It supports both rich text and Markdown.

Question 6

Are my drafts saved automatically?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Drafts auto-save as you type, so you won’t lose work. You can also manually save a draft and come back to it anytime from Dashboard → Articles.

Question 7

What is the minimum word count?

Accepted Answer

Articles must be at least 600 words to submit for review. This keeps published stories substantial and useful to readers.

Question 8

How many tags and which category can I use?

Accepted Answer

You can add up to 5 tags per article and must pick one topic category (we organize topics as parent categories with specific subtopics). Tags and categories power discovery through browse pages, feeds, and search.

Question 9

Can I include links in my article?

Accepted Answer

Yes — up to 2 external reference links per article, as long as they’re relevant and safe for readers. Each link needs anchor text. Spammy, adult, casino, or unrelated promotional links get rejected.

Question 10

Can I preview my story before publishing?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Use the Preview button in the editor to see exactly how your article will look to readers — cover image, title, reading time, and formatting — before you submit it.

Question 11

Can I schedule a story to publish later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In story settings you can set a future date and time. Once approved and the scheduled time arrives, the article publishes automatically (as long as it meets the word-count requirement).

Question 12

What are Publications?

Accepted Answer

Publications let you group related stories into a series, similar to Medium publications. Create one from Dashboard → Publications, then assign stories to it. Each publication gets its own public page.

Question 13

Do I need a featured image?

Accepted Answer

A relevant featured image (max 2MB, JPG/PNG/WebP) is recommended and makes your story stand out in feeds and cards. Make sure you have rights to use the image — Unsplash and Pexels are good sources.

Question 14

Is there built-in SEO?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each article supports a custom meta title, meta description, and focus keyword, plus an auto-generated excerpt from your first paragraph. A live SEO analyzer helps you optimize before publishing.

Question 15

How does publishing work?

Accepted Answer

When your draft passes automatic checks (word count, links, duplicate content), it goes live immediately. Moderators focus on flagged or reported stories rather than reviewing every submission beforehand.

Question 16

Can a live story be removed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If a story matches sensitive terms or violates guidelines, moderators can unpublish it and leave a reason so you can fix and publish again.

Question 17

Why was my article rejected or unpublished?

Accepted Answer

Common reasons are plagiarized or low-effort content, unedited raw AI text, irrelevant or unsafe links, and policy violations. The editor leaves a specific reason on your article so you can fix and republish.

Question 18

Can I edit an article after it’s published?

Accepted Answer

Yes — saved changes update the public version. For a critical correction or if your story was unpublished, fix the issues in the editor and publish again, or contact support.

Question 19

How do I discover new stories?

Accepted Answer

Use the Latest, Trending, and Most Read feeds, or the personalized “For You” feed once you follow writers. You can also browse by category or tag, and use full-text search to find anything.

Question 20

What are claps?

Accepted Answer

Claps are how readers show appreciation — you can clap multiple times on a story you love. Clap totals help surface popular stories in Trending and Most Read.

Question 21

Can I save stories to read later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tap Save (bookmark) on any story to add it to your Reading List, accessible from the navbar and your workspace. It’s your private library of saved articles.

Question 22

What are highlights?

Accepted Answer

While reading, you can highlight passages that resonate with you and optionally add a private note. It’s a great way to remember key ideas from a story.

Question 23

How do responses (comments) work?

Accepted Answer

Verified readers can post responses on any published story and reply to others one level deep. Authors get notified of new responses, so it becomes a real conversation rather than a monologue.

Question 24

Can I follow writers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Follow any writer from their profile or an article to get their stories in your For You feed. Your follower and following counts show on your public profile.

Question 25

Can I share a story?

Accepted Answer

Every story has a Share button with copy-link, X (Twitter), and WhatsApp options, plus native device sharing on mobile.

Question 26

Where do I see my notifications?

Accepted Answer

The bell icon in the navbar shows unread counts. Open Dashboard → Notifications to see updates about published or rejected stories, new responses, and new followers, and to mark them as read.

Question 27

Can I control which emails I receive?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In settings you can toggle article-status emails and the daily digest. Every email also has an unsubscribe link that updates your preferences instantly.

Question 28

What analytics do writers get?

Accepted Answer

Your dashboard shows views, read percentage, claps, followers, and a 30-day chart — plus audience insights Medium doesn’t offer: who read your stories (name and avatar when signed in, anonymous when not), who bookmarked them, and which countries your readers come from. Open any published article’s Analytics page for the full breakdown.

Question 29

I forgot my password. What now?

Accepted Answer

Use the “Forgot password” link on the login page. We’ll email you a secure reset link so you can set a new password.

Question 30

How do I contact support?

Accepted Answer

Head to our Contact page or email us directly at hello@wordtoshare.com. We typically reply within one business day.
