The evening sky was painted in shades of grey, when she finally reached home from the hostel.

After a tiring week, the familiar house should have felt like a warm embrace, a place where her

mind could finally rest. She opened the door, stepped inside, and greeted her family with a faint

smile.

Then she looked around.

The smile disappeared.

The house was not as she had imagined it. Shoes lay scattered near the entrance, cushions

were out of place, clothes rested carelessly on the furniture, and dishes were piled in the

kitchen. Nothing seemed to belong where it was supposed to be.

To someone else, it was simply a little mess.

To her, it was a storm without thunder.

Her eyes moved from one object to another, analyzing everything. Her mind became a restless machine, noticing every misplaced thing. The room seemed to grow smaller with every passing second.

Why is everything so disorganized? Why can't anything simply stay in its place?

She dropped her bag beside the sofa.

Then she saw the broom.

She grabbed it and began sweeping.

At first, the movement was almost calming. Back and forth. Back and forth.

She tried to put everything into order, as if arranging the room could also arrange the chaos inside her mind.

But the more she cleaned, the more disturbed she became.

Three minutes passed.

Then four.

Her breathing changed.

She suddenly realized that tears were sliding down her cheeks.

She stopped.

Her face was burning red, and her chest felt tight. She tried to breathe, but every breath

seemed smaller than the one before it. A strange pressure gathered in her throat. She wanted to cry to let everything out but the words refused to come.

Her silence had become louder than a scream.

She threw the broom aside with all the strength she had left and hurried to the bathroom.

She closed the door and leaned against it.

For a moment, she simply stood there.

Then she looked into the mirror.

The girl staring back at her did not look angry anymore.

She looked exhausted.

She washed her face and took a slow breath.

Another.

And another.

But this was not the first time.

For a long time, she had been carrying a private battle that nobody knew about. She had always

been quiet and reserved, the kind of person who kept her storms behind closed doors. She rarely explained what she felt because explaining herself seemed harder than suffering in silence.

Whenever life became too heavy, she opened her diary.

The diary was her silent companion.

Its pages knew the thoughts she could never say aloud.

She wrote everything there, the irritation, the fear, the confusion, and the endless thoughts that crowded her mind. Ink became her refuge, and every page became a small piece of peace.

Writing in her diary was not something she had started that day. She had been doing it for a long time. Whenever stress became overwhelming, writing helped her release what she could not express to anyone else. For her, the diary had become a kind of personal therapy.

She had also developed a strong fear and distress when surrounded by unclean or disorganized spaces. Even ordinary household noises could sometimes become unbearable. The clatter of daily dishes seemed to strike her ears like tiny hammers. The constant clink, clatter, and bang could make her feel irritated, overwhelmed, and desperate for silence.

But sometimes, the burden became too heavy.

One night, while scrolling through social media, she came across a simple breathing technique:

breathe in slowly and breathe out gently.

It seemed almost too simple to matter.

Still, she tried it.

She breathed in.

Then breathed out.

Again.

And again.

Nothing magical happened that night. Her problems did not disappear. The mess in the world

remained messy, and her mind still carried its old habits.

But something had changed.

For the first time, she understood that she did not have to fight every storm at once.

She began practising the breathing technique whenever she felt overwhelmed. She continued

writing in her diary. Slowly, she learned to recognize the moment when her emotions began

rising instead of waiting until they became unbearable.

Days became weeks.

Weeks became months.

The noise became easier to bear.

The anger became easier to understand.

The tears came less often.

She was learning not to control everything around her, but to control how she responded to it.

She was improving emotionally, and even the physical effects of stress became easier for her to

manage. She was not suddenly cured of everything. She was simply learning how to live with

her emotions instead of allowing them to control her.

Then, one weekend, she returned home from the hostel again.

She opened the door.

The house was messy.

A few dishes were lying in the kitchen. Cushions were scattered. Shoes were in the wrong place.

Her eyes immediately noticed everything.

For a second, the familiar storm rose inside her.

Her fingers tightened.

Her breathing became quick.

She looked at the broom.

Then she looked at her diary lying quietly inside her bag.

A tiny smile appeared on her face.

She did not pick up the broom.

Instead, she closed her eyes.

She breathed in.

Slowly.

Then she breathed out.

The room was still messy.

But this time, the chaos outside her did not become chaos inside her.

She finally understood the lesson her diary had been teaching her all along:

Peace does not always come from putting everything in order. Sometimes, it comes from

accepting that not everything has to be in order.

She picked up her bag and walked toward her family.

The house was still imperfect.

So was she.

And somehow, that was perfectly okay……
