It was a beautiful rainy morning. Soft raindrops tapped against the windowpanes, and the cool breeze carried the fresh scent of wet grass. Elsa was still asleep when her niece rushed into her room and exclaimed, “Aunt Elsa, wake up! It’s raining outside!”

Elsa opened her eyes in disbelief. A wide smile spread across her face as she looked out of the window. The sky was covered with dark clouds, and the garden shimmered beneath the falling rain. Overwhelmed with excitement, she jumped out of bed, brushed her teeth, changed her clothes, and hurried into the lawn.

The rain was falling heavily, turning the garden into a little paradise. Elsa and her niece laughed as they splashed water at each other. They filled balloons with water and threw them at one another, their laughter echoing through the garden. For a while, they forgot everything else. The world seemed to belong only to them, and every raindrop became a tiny jewel of happiness. It was a moment Elsa knew she would treasure forever.

After some time, Elsa called her maid and asked her to prepare a hot cup of tea and some tender pops to enjoy the pleasant weather. However, just as she was about to settle down, the rain suddenly stopped. The clouds began to drift away, and the garden grew quiet.

Elsa went inside and stood before the mirror, adjusting her wet hair. Suddenly, something dark moved near her neck.

She froze.

Her eyes widened, and her heart began to pound. Before she could even understand what was happening, she let out a piercing scream.

“Aaaah! What a terrifying insect!”

A cockroach was crawling around her neck!

Elsa instantly brushed it away, trembling with disgust and fear. Her sister rushed into the room and, after spotting the insect, killed it with a stick. The little creature lay motionless on the floor, but Elsa's fear was far from dead. Her hands shook, her breathing quickened, and she could hardly believe that such a tiny creature had frightened her so terribly.

Elsa suffered from entomophobia, an intense fear of insects. To others, a cockroach was merely an unpleasant household pest, but to Elsa, it was a monster capable of turning an ordinary day into a nightmare.

Later, when she went to take a shower, her imagination began to play tricks on her. She felt an unbearable itch across her body. What if more cockroaches were hiding in her clothes? What if one crawled across her skin again?

Unable to control her panic, she pulled off her shirt and threw it away, screaming at the top of her lungs.

Her mother came rushing to the bathroom door.

“Elsa! What happened? Are you all right?”

“Please, Mama, don't leave me alone!” Elsa cried. “Stand here until I finish my shower. I think there are cockroaches everywhere!”

Her mother tried to reassure her and remained outside the shower area while Elsa washed herself. Even after the incident was over, Elsa could not stop thinking about the horrible creature. Her family often laughed about her reaction, joking that she could face a storm but not a cockroach. Although their teasing was sometimes harmless, it made Elsa feel embarrassed and helpless.

For several days, the memory haunted her. A tiny movement in the corner of a room could make her jump, and even a dark spot on the floor was enough to make her heart race. She began to realize that her fear was controlling her happiness.

One evening, while sitting with her mother, Elsa finally admitted, “I don't want to spend my whole life running away from something so small.”

Her mother gently held her hand. “Courage doesn't mean that you feel no fear, my dear. It means learning how to face it, little by little.”

Those words stayed with Elsa.

Gradually, she began to challenge her fear. Whenever she encountered an insect, she tried to remain calm instead of screaming or running away immediately. She learned to distinguish harmless insects from dangerous ones and reminded herself that feeling frightened did not necessarily mean she was in danger. With patience, encouragement, and repeated experiences, she slowly became more comfortable around insects.

It was not an overnight transformation. There were still moments when fear returned, but Elsa no longer allowed it to control every decision she made.

Months later, on another rainy morning, Elsa stood in the same garden where she had once laughed so freely with her niece. The rain fell gently, washing the leaves and filling the air with its familiar, refreshing fragrance.

Suddenly, she noticed a tiny insect resting on a leaf beside her.

For a moment, her heart skipped a beat. The old fear stirred inside her, whispering that she should run away. But this time, Elsa took a deep breath and stood still. She watched the little creature for a few seconds before calmly stepping back.

Then she smiled.

Her niece ran towards her, ready to splash her with rainwater again. Elsa burst into laughter and joined her, forgetting about the insect almost as quickly as she had noticed it.

As the rain continued to fall, Elsa understood something important: the cockroach had never been the only thing she needed to overcome; she also had to overcome the fear that had been holding her prisoner.

And from that day onward, Elsa tried to remember that courage was not the absence of fear, but the decision to keep living happily despite it.
