Once you heat them, there's very little difference between THCA carts and THC carts. Both deliver delta-9 THC. The real differences are where the oil comes from, how it's tested, and how the law treats it.
Where does each one come from?
A THC cart is usually made from marijuana and sold in a licensed dispensary in a state where cannabis is legal.
A THCA cart is made from hemp. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp was defined by its delta-9 THC level only: 0.3% or less by dry weight. THCA wasn't counted, which is why THCA products could be sold online and shipped to many states.
Do they feel different?
Not much. Vaping heats THCA and turns it into delta-9 THC, so the high is very similar. What changes the experience is the dose and the terpene blend, not the label on the box.

Why testing matters more for THCA carts
Dispensary products go through mandatory state testing. Hemp products don't always face the same rules, so quality varies a lot by brand. That makes the lab report your best friend. Look for a batch-matched report that covers potency, pesticides, heavy metals and residual solvents. We post ours on our COA page.
The legal gap is closing
This is the biggest change coming. A federal law signed in November 2025 redefines hemp by total THC, which includes THCA, and caps finished products at 0.4 mg of total THC per container. It's currently set to take effect on December 11, 2026. Once it does, hemp THCA carts will no longer count as legal hemp at the federal level, and the difference between the two gets much smaller.
Some states, like Texas, already ban THC vape sales outright.
Which should you choose?
If you live in a legal state with dispensaries, both are options. If you're buying hemp-derived, choose a Dope THCA cart or another brand with full lab reports, and check your state's rules first.
